Well the time has come!  We are ready to begin our next CD project for everyone to enjoy.  We have six songs completed and are hoping for several more in the next few months.  But, we couldn’t wait to get the first set of songs into people’s hands.  So we have created a short-run CD called Softly and Tenderly.  This CD will serve two purposes… to give people the music they have been requesting at concerts, and to help us complete production on a full-length project.  The full-length project will cost over $6000 to complete with final music production, artwork (including a booklet), and CD replication (making enough to sell and give away).

We had planned to make a short-run CD, prepare our own artwork and see what God had planned by looking at how many we sold.  The more we sold, the more we could produce in the future.  But as soon as we heard the first set of songs, we could not let this be all we have available.  So, I had a little talk with God and asked what He wanted me to do.  Of course, His answer was “what I want you to do?  ”You”?  Oh, yeah.  Sorry.  I forgot I don’t live in a vacuum and have been blessed many times over by people who have helped us to create the albums we have in the past.  So, I then began thinking about what you and I could do to make this CD project what it needs to be to touch the most hearts.  Then I started looking at the songs people have been requesting and it struck me that people needed to be comforted.  There are so many people in pain.  There are so many struggling their way through grief.  I have seen it in the eyes of the lovingly devoted wife of 60 years at her husband’s funeral or in the voice of the mother whose son has not spoken to her in years since he started using drugs.  Our music brings comfort.  And that is what we need to keep doing.

So, this (two-part) CD project will continue what we have been doing since my Mom’s death, sharing the love of Jesus through song and story.  The CD artwork below is the front and back cover of the CD that will serve as the vehicle to help us get the financial strength to move the full CD project to completion.  Our hope is that we will be able to sell enough of the short-run CDs and also get some sponsors who want to take this project from my dreamworld to reality.  We trust that if God wants this project to happen, He will make it happen.  And you can be a part of it.

Clive Rohald

Clive Rohald – Creative Director, Brand development, based in London

Clive Rohald needs only four hours of sleep. He’s not sure why—and neither are we—but whatever the reason, our clients are lucky that it’s so. Clive Efford

Clive was elected as the MP for the Eltham constituency in 1997. From 2001 until October 2008 he was a member of the influential parliamentary Transport Select Committee.  Clive was a Shadow home office minister from 2010-2011 and has served as a PPS to John Healey and Margaret Beckett before this; Clive is now the Shadow Minister for Sport.

Clive has been a regular in the parliamentary Football team, is a lifelong Millwall fan and has an FA coaching certificate.  He lists among his greatest achievements his successful campaign to have a new sports centre built in Eltham town centre which combines Leisure facilities, an FE college, Library and centre for Council Services. It has been hailed as an example of good practice.

Another of his proudest achievements is the work he has done to save Samuel Montagu Youth Centre which provides Sporting facilities for young people in the Constituency. Prior to being an MP Clive served as a councillor for the old Eltham Well Hall ward from 1986 until 1998. He has also been a governor of Henwick Primary School since 1986 – meaning he has now been involved with the school for over 25 years!

Outside of politics Clive has worked as a youth worker, set up a job club for young people, owned his own business and been a licensed London taxi driver. During his time as a London Taxi Driver he represented the T&G on the London Taxi Board. He was also elected to the unions Passenger Transport Committee. Clive has been married to Jill since 1981. They live in Eltham with their three daughters. Jill is a teacher in a Greenwich primary school.

Clive Ruggles

Clive is Emeritus Professor of Archaeoastronomy in the School of Archaeology and Ancient History at the University of Leicester, UK. He has worked in many parts of the world and published numerous books, papers and articles on subjects ranging from prehistoric Europe and pre-Columbian America to indigenous astronomies in Africa and elsewhere. He has ongoing fieldwork projects in Peru and Polynesia and is a leading figure in the joint initiative by UNESCO and the International Astronomical Union working to promote, preserve, and protect the world’s most important astronomical heritage sites.

Clive Gregson

Born and raised in Manchester, England, Clive is an accomplished singer, musician and record producer. He started his professional music career in 1980 as the leader of cult band Any Trouble. The group toured extensively in support of five critically acclaimed albums and a number of singles that became radio hits before disbanding at the end of 1984. Fondly remembered and greatly missed, the band reformed in 2007 to record a brand new album entitled “Life In Reverse” and play their first live show in 23 years. A packed house at the Jazz Cafe in London sang along with a mixture of old and new favourites… and apparently quite a few tears were shed!

In 1985, Clive released the first of twelve solo albums and he has maintained a solo profile ever since. His solo recordings and tours have been one of the main outlets for his prolific songwriting and a solo “Best Of…” compilation was released in April 2009. Clive’s solo albums feature an eclectic mix of pop and folk styles, ranging from the full on electric band approach of “I Love This Town” to the stripped down “one man and his acoustic guitar” intimacy of “Long Story Short”. Clive’s live shows are usually solo performances and the guitar skills that prompted Guitar to include him in their “1,000 Great Guitarists” are always well in evidence.

Along the road from pop frontman to singer-songwriter, Clive has followed many musical diversions. Between 1985 and 1992, he
formed a partnership with Christine Collister that Rolling Stone called “the state of the art in British folk-rock”. They released five albums and toured the UK, USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Christine’s distinctive voice allied to Clive’s songs, instrumental and production skills created something truly special and their decision to call it a day left a huge gap in the roots music scene. The entire Gregson & Collister catalogue plus a “Best Of…” compilation were re-issued in 2009.

Clive has also toured and recorded with Richard Thompson (1982 to 1992), Nanci Griffith (1996 to 2007), Eddi Reader and Boo Hewerdine (1993 and 1999), Plainsong (1997) and he was the musical director for the Dennis Locorriere “Hits & History” tour in 2007, which resulted in a gold album and a concert DVD that also charted. His songs have been recorded by many artists, including Nanci Griffith, Kim Carnes, Fairport Convention, Claire Martin, Norma Waterson and Smokie. Nanci’s version of “I Love This Town”
(performed as a duet with Jimmy Buffett) was released as a single in 2006 and became a radio hit in both America and the UK, receiving more than 5,000 spins in the USA.

Clive relocated to the USA in 1993. He continues to tour regularly and write prolifically. In recent years he has also run a number of songwriting workshops and master classes and remains in demand as a record producer and session musician. Obviously there’s no sign of Clive slowing down just yet!

Biographical Sketch

Clive Romney wears many hats. Clive the recording producer has produced more than 120 albums, thousands of other recordings: jingles, demos, digital samples, theme songs and audio-visual soundtracks. He engineers most of his own recordings in his studio, Pitchfork Studios, and produced “Histories of the Hymns” and “Music With a Message” for The Mormon Channel.

Clive Romney the composer and songwriter has more than 450 published works. Clive wrote the lyrics for the animated films Swan Princess II, III, and the soon-to-be-released IV, the music and lyrics for “Over The Edge at The Grand Canyon” (commissioned by the National Park), the music for the new Nauvoo Visitors’ Center show “High Hopes and Riverboats”, much of the lyrics and music for a pioneer heritage show called “The Ghosts of Gardner Village”, and an elementary-school early Utah history program called “The Heart Of A Pioneer”, and music and lyrics for “Echoes of Christmas” presented these past three Christmases at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City. He is creative director for “Story Road Utah” which tells the pioneer stories of Utah communities and families.

Clive Romney the teacher has taught guitar, songwriting, arranging and Introduction to the Music Business at Brigham Young University, University of Utah, Salt Lake Community College, and privately.

Clive Romney the performer has 4,000+ performances to his credit—solo and with Enoch Train, Caboose, Willingly, Grouse Creek Lily, Manassas, and other ensembles. He plays guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo, accordion, percussion, dan tranh, charango, bodhran, various other ethnic instruments, and “just enough piano to get into trouble.”

Clive Romney the organizer is Executive Director of Utah Pioneer Heritage Arts, which portrays the passion of the pioneer experience in all the heritage arts (www.upharts.org).

But Clive Romney the man cherishes the precious time he spends with his wife Bonnie, and his five children and 19 (soon to be 21) grandchildren.

Clive Simpkins

Clive Simpkins is a marketing and communications strategist who helps people and organisations communicate better. Whether interpersonally, for press, radio, TV or social media.

He was part of the John Orr’s general management team in the heydays of the department store group. Subsequent to that he was Market Development Manager for the Greaterman’s stores group before moving into advertising with J. Walter Thompson.  He then joined Ogilvy & Mather where he was a client service account director. It was with O&M that he specialised in the professional speaking, media coaching and communications arena in New York City, in the early 1980s. Clive’s been back running his own business in South Africa since 1986.

His African continent clients include four Heads of State. He was pro bono parliamentary speechwriter to the late ANC first lady, Mrs Adelaide Tambo. He hosted his own show on Talk radio 702 several years back and is a regular radio and TV guest on media (including social media), reputation management and communications related topics.

Clive is author of three books, all based on four decades of hard-won personal and practical experience: 1) Presenting, Speaking and Facilitating Secrets, 2) Media Appearance Secrets and, 3) Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life, the latter with a foreword by psychiatrist Dr Dora Wynchank.

He’s a technologically, sociologically and trends-literate veteran of the South African communications and speaking business. He’s the first recipient of the Professional Speakers Association of SA (PSASA) peer award in recognition of his contribution to public speaking and communicating in South Africa.

He’s an avid student of the universality of religions, is ‘adopted grandfather’ to nine year-old Siphe Buthelezi and for recreation he writes, reads voraciously, paints occasionally in acrylics and oils, cooks and dotes on his last remaining beloved Rottweiler.

Clive, New Zealand

The small town of Clive is located ten kilometres south of Napier in the Hawke’s Bay region of New Zealand‘s North Island. It is close to the mouth of the Ngaruroro River.

The town, which has a population of 1350 at the 2001 census, is part of the Hastings district. It was named (like many of the towns in the vicinity) after a prominent person from imperial India, in this case Robert Clive, better known as “Clive of India”. The name was given by John Curling.

The town of Clive is mainly rural, yet with the increasing number of people moving into Hawkes Bay, and Clive being at the meeting point of Metropolitan Hastings and Napier, new subdivisions are being built to accommodate the growing population.

Clive is home to the Hawke’s Bay Rowing Club who train on the Clive River. The Hawke’s Bay Rowing Regatta is held on the first weekend of the year, started in 1895 and is the oldest regatta in New Zealand.

Clive Coates MW (Master of Wine) is one of the world’s leading wine authorities. Coates’ lifetime of distinguished activity in the field has been recognised by the French government, which awarded him the Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole, and he’s also been honoured with a “Rame d’Honneur” by Le Verre et L’Assiette, the Ruffino/Cyril Ray Memorial Prize for his writings on Italian wine, and the title of “Wine Writer of the Year” for 1998/1999 in the Champagne Lanson awards.

Coates published THE VINE, his independent fine wine magazine, for 241 issues from 1984 to 2005. Keenly read by oenophiles the world over, THE VINE received numerous awards, including a special commendation for its “considerable contribution to the knowledge and understanding of wine from the Wine Guild of Great Britain. In addition to his work with THE VINE, Coates has written for nearly all the world’s foremost wine publications, and enjoys a reputation as an accomplished and engaging speaker among audiences throughout Europe and the USA.

Coates’ books are widely considered the classic works on their respective subjects. They include: CLARET (1982), WINES OF FRANCE (1990), GRANDS VINS, The Finest Châteaux of Bordeaux and Their Wines (1995), and CÔTE D’OR, A Celebration of the Great Wines of Burgundy (1997), which won the André Simon Award (UK), the Champagne Veuve Clicquot prize (USA) and the James Beard Award (USA) for the best wine book of the year. CÔTE D’OR also won the annual Prix des Arts et des Lettres awarded by the Burgundian Confrérie du Tastevin, the first time a book on wine and a non-Burgundian has been so honoured for 30 years. Since then he has published AN ENCYCLOPAEDIA TOTHE WINES AND DOMAINES OF FRANCE (2000); THE WINES OF BORDEAUX (2004) and THE GREAT WINES OF FRANCE (2005).

The long-awaited sequel to Côte d’Or, THE WINES OF BURGUNDY, was published world-wide by the University of California Press in April 2008.

Prior to his career as an author, Coates spent twenty years as a professional wine merchant, during which he served as Executive Director of the wines division of British Transport Hotels and established the legendary Malmaison Wine Club.

Now semi-retired, Clive lives in southern Burgundy with his dogs and occasionally conducts wine lovers round the region.
